Recap and coffee

IMG_0550.JPGThe year 2016 has nearly come to an end. Time to get up and get some things done while the old year still lasts. One thing I really want to get into again is blogging (and cleaning my flat, my closet, get my washing machine installed, finally paint my bedroom…) I work with so many inspiring bloggers every day but I stopped to publish (except for instagram) myself. Well, a new year is always also a time for a change. Or better: a reason to start new, positive habits.

Here comes my mid-December recap with some nice coffee-spots to spend the time between the years in my hometown Ingolstadt!

Yes, I spend most of the time at my desk at work, but sometimes my job requires to go outside. I had an amazing photo shooting in the cold with the new Audi Q2, finally found the most beautiful café in Ingolstadt (in my opinion it’s the Café am Schloß!), had some Glühwein at the little Christmas market of the Alte Anatomie (the museum of the history of medicine, a beautiful building that looks like a small castle, just in Ingolstadts city-center), the herbs at the museums garden were covered by the first frost of the year. I finally got to read the new issue of the Kinfolk magazine at a nice coffee-spot as well: one of the oldest cafés in Ingolstadt, the Café Wiedamann. mid-decemberrecap

Café am Schloß

Ballhausgasse 2, 85049 Ingolstadt

Oh this is one of my most favorite places. Nice industrial-interior. Modern but classic, the coffee is excellent and the breakfast contains only regional products. Also the coffee is roasted by their own little roastery – something you’ll taste. They’re also very flexible when it comes to vegetarian alternatives and soy-milk. Something you won’t get everywhere in Ingolstadt!

Café Anna

Theresienstraße 19, 85049 Ingolstadt

The hot-spot for families and friends alike every saturday. From soja-latte to vegan ice-cream. The Anna has ist all. As well as a little bookshop and a beautiful interior. But be quick. On vertain times you’ll be waiting quite long  in line to get your coffee…

Café Wiedamann

Donaustraße 1, 85049 Ingolstadt

Craving a piece of really self made cake? This little place is the spot for it. Just near “Vronis Ratschhaus” and the Pop-Up Coffee “Coffee Roasters V” you’ll find this little gem. Mr Wiedamann is still baking on his own. And there’s regular coffee, a piece of cake and a nice atmosphere plus friendly service for under 4€!

Café Velo

Kreuzstrasse 2; 85049 Ingolstadt

Do you remember the little bike-shop that was in front of the Münster for as long as I can remember? Evi Salt took it over and made it in one of the most cozy and beautiful spots in the whole inner city. And the best thing? Except for the down-to-earth owner Evi? The coffee is served in cups of reasonable size and there’s always the smell of freshly baked waffles hanging in the air…

Special: Try the gingerbread-waffles that are only served around Christmas! Proof of calories worth the intake see below. And they taste even better when shared with some friends 🙂

Wait for the list to continue, I’m not done testing every coffee of this town yet 🙂

Have a good last week before the Christmas holidays!

Needs for the Heat

It’s unbelievable hot. The best would be to spend the heatwave near the sea. So let’s dream about Thailand’s beaches, about brown skin and salt in our hair. Well, at least perfectly brown skin and salty hair is something you can get during the German summer as well.

For a perfect brown skin I can recommend Garnier’s Bronzing Oil. It doesn’t only give you a golden glow but also nourishes your skin with different oils so it stays soft and shimmering!

To get your hair through those days of high UV radiation you can use some special sprays to shield your hair. If you’re going for the beach blond look there are some products I really love. It’s the “texturizing sea spray” of Paul Mitchell’s awahpuhi series and the long hair treatments “straight works” and “super skinny serum”. They keep your hair long, strong and looking good all summer long!

Berlin Stories

What a week-end! Sebastian Schipper isn’t wrong in his awarded film Victoria.Berlin nights are a specialty and I bet what happens in Berlin will never occur to you anywhere else!

Berlin Lesen Geschäft Berlin Stories Spatzen aufräumen Berlin StoriesThe Gaslight Anthem concert on Thursday was a blast. It was so good I even forgot to take a picture. That says it all! We spend our Friday with Brunch at “Frau Anna Blume”. A nice Café in Prenzlauer Berg with a variety of breakfast options! Included were our small bird-servants who cleaned our table already while we were still eating. Save your bread anyone!

Berlin StoriesWe spend the day wandering through Prenzlauer Berg until it was time for the Midsommar celebrations to begin.

Berlin Stories Berlin Stories Berlin Stories Berlin StoriesThe “Bikini Berlin” is an innovative shopping mall concept. It’s an amazing building full of small designer stores. And it is just near the Zoo. So there’s a big window where you can watch apes. Or they can watch you. The rooftop reminds me a little of the “High Lane” in New York!

Berlin StoriesAnd there in the Bikini I met my friend Betty who takes care of her sisters clothing store “Sara Lux” right now! I’ll do a little feature about this shop for Lilac&Vermilion!

Berlin Stories Berlin is full of friends. So after 5 years Tobi and I took the same picture in front of the same Graffiti again. It still exists!

I managed to bind a formidable flower crown. And refused to take it off for the whole night!

After the bucket-challenge Tobi and Lucas decided that one swedish quest was enough. So they burned the Gothenburg quiz I wanted to take as well 😦

Berlin StoriesOf course there was dancing around the pole. Thank you Norr Magazin and From Up North! The evening was so much fun!

Berlin Stories

Because of the cold we went on to a bar in Kreuzberg. Somehow we managed coming home around 7 in the morning as we tried to help one of Tobi’s friends to find a way back into his apartment, drove around half the town to get his spare key…and drunk some “Pfeffi” (a disgusting mint snaps) from a “Späti” (a supermarket where you can buy stuff 24/7) What a night! What a midsommar party!

Hej Berlin, Hej Swedish Sommar

Time to pack my bags for Berlin. I’ll be seeing The Gaslight Anthem live, be part of the biggest Midsommar celebration outside of Sweden and will hopefully have a good time at several flea- and food markets.

Midsummer, also known as the Summer Solstice is the longest day and longest night and marks the beginning of summer in Scandinavia.

There are many rituals connected to this day, such as dancing around the maypole, which is covered in flowers, biding crowns of local flowers and feasting and drinking and dancing the whole night. It’s a special day as everyone is happy and just celebrating that the long winter is finally over. If I’d be in Scandinavia right now I’d probably celebrate Midsommar in some Summer Stuga (a small holiday house) with good friends and a big buffet of Swedish food. I’ll be finally in Sweden in August. Until then Germany hast to suffice!

So let’s see what Berlin has to offer!

flowers sweden ritual midsommar

I already heard that one can bind their flower crowns right at the festival. So maybe they will tell people there as well this old ritual, that girls pick up seven different kind of flowers and put them under their pillow at night so they will dream of their future love…Midsommar is such a romantic and spiritual day. Let’s see if it is as cheerful in Berlin as it is in Sweden.

Midsommar is also the celebration of love. Today it’s all about to finally meet your crush and tell them about your feelings. Or just to take someone home with you.

Have you ever been with your head so much into your work you forgot you had food on the stove? Well that’s just me at the moment. Been there, done that. Just now.

So while waiting for my analog festival pictures to be ready I’ll keep you busy with some other stuff.

Today that will be the best power drink ever. For you to try. So you will be able to handle cooking and working at once 😉

Lemon Summer Power Drink Lemon Summer Power Drink

Oh and yes it is as simple as it looks like:

– One organic lemon

– some home-grown mint

– some fresh, organic ginger

– some nice open can to put everything into (mine is from IKEA)

– tadaa!

Lemons give you a boost of Vitamin C while the Mint is cooling your body temperature. The fresh Ginger on top reduces your craving for something sweet (as it always overcomes me when I’m stressed). And overall a can full of fresh ingredients smelling of lemon suddenly evokes this relaxing summer feeling you just need after a day full of work.

Or after this #GameOfThronesFinal ! That’s something we all need something cooling as well. For all our hopes and dreams melted like..well…Snow.

One more reason to make yourself a Power Drink – whatever helps a series junkie through the ups and downs of his fictional worlds!
