Christmas Cookies

it’s saint nicolaus day, which means that baking some cookies should have already been done. lala. as i hate baking (as much as i love cooking!) and i’m quite picky when it comes to chistmas cookies, i’m only doing one sort of them. it may be annoying for my family to get the same cookies every year, but they are awesome, tasty, healty and soo easy to do 😀

it’s actually an old recipe from a wise lady called hildegard von bingen. she wrote many things about how nutrition can help curing any kind of diseases. my gradma loooves her and this receipt is one of her many many cookie ideas she collected over the years. those cookies -as it says- are supposed to give you back energy. well what else does one need those days when it get’s dark so early. Let’s start baking!

here comes the recipe:

500g splint

250g butter

150g brown sugar

2 eggs

some cinnamon and nutmeg

First you need to grind up the splint.

of course you can use already grounded flour. but the cookies taste just so much better with freshly splinted grain. not that I haven’t tried baking them with normal flour already, caused by laziness, but this bit of extra work is definitely worth it 🙂

Put the butter and the brown sugar in.

followed by the eggs.

Finally put some cinnamon and nutmeg and -if you like- some cloves (grounded of course) in the dough.

Then taste it;) I mean that’s the best thing about baking, isn’t it?:))

Finally you can easily cut out your favourite shapes:) (mine are elks and christmas-cats haha)

Voilà! Have a nice evening and a good week-end.

ah! and here’s the right non-christmas-baking-soundtrack:

Then the snow started falling

Then the snow started falling We were stuck out in your car

Well my laptop crushed. therefore all my pictures and data is gone for now. the barcelona guide needs consequently needs to wait. but I’ll show you some christmas inspiration and some book recommendations. 🙂 december is the month I have the most time and patience for reading. crawling in my bed with some amazing book is my favourite occupation right now. besides drinking chai-latte and watching the world passing by in front of my window. ah and writing some assignments. meh. hope you’re feeling a thrill of anticipation for the christmas season.
